204 | 1500 | A 1997 Yamaha XJ600N Cafe Racer Manx registration number EMN 963 Frame number 4BR0245748 Engine number 4BR0244860 Bike was bought in 2017 and project took over 600 hours to complete. It is taxed and insured for road (Isle of Man) with 13,000 miles on clock. It includes removable exhaust baffles, a second Honda CBR600 seat unit to allow for passengers and original parts. I wanted to start a project with a ?Hole through tank? to view vertical carb velocity intakes, not many bikes with this configuration. I fancied a BMW K1600 but they were too expensive so settled on a cheap XJ600. I also wanted a 4 into 4 exhaust system with ?Megas? and a Café Racer look. Bike was completely stripped down and frame centre stand tube was removed and swinging arm brace was reworked to allow for the 4 exhausts to pass through. The sub frame lower rails were replaced by 22mm Dia straight rails to allow clearance on exhausts. Finally, some lugs were removed and some added and all the welds were cleaned up before rub down and spraying. One of the biggest jobs along with exhausts was the hole in fuel tank, this took considerable time in planning where and how this could be done. Finally a 100mm hole was cut through tank on centre line of vertical carb intakes. A section of 100mm mild steel truck exhaust was offered up and welded into place then a section was cut out for carb velocity stacks, leak tested and prepared for spraying by my good friend Lester. 4 custom 50mm spun alloy Velocity stacks were fitted to carbs and rejetted. I could not decide on what seat I wanted so I made up two, the first was a Kawasaki KR250 seat bought from Airtech in USA that I cut down middle and added 50mm to its width along with blending into petrol tank. The second seat was of a Honda CBR600 again blending into tank I bought a pair of Gun Nuts from U.S.A., made and pressed alloy inserts into these with M10 threads to replace chain tension nuts. This does away with having to use spanners when tightening chain as they have their own nylon locks inside them. Exhaust system took forever to work out and was made up using straight, 45 degree and 90-degree angles in 32 and 35mm Stainless Steel and 4 Megaphones all from Ebay. All the alloy brackets and mounts were made in house. Forks were fitted with progressive springs, ?Blue Spot? Thunderace calliper, Triple clamps cleaned up and clip on handle bars fitted. A new Olhins rear suspension unit was also fitted. The 18? rear wheel was replaced by a FZ600 17? wheel which was modified to fit along with Brembo caliper and small 210mm disc. A smaller Master cylinder was fitted to bespoke Rear Sets. Rear hugger was made from Thunderace front mudguard. The engine was cleaned up and sprayed with heat resistant paint and inspection hole was cut into Gearbox cover along with 8 holes spark eroded into gearbox sprocket. The ?Ram Air? chute was made from 100mm sq alloy drain pipe sourced from local school and the 2-piece airbox was made from fibreglass in a bespoke mould. The twin 100mm Headlamps were hung from the ?Ram Air? chute by four round alloy bar outriggers, two of which were drilled out to enable wiring to pass through. I had to relocate the wiring and battery from under original seat to where redundant air box was under tank as there was not enough room owing to the 4 exhausts. New alloy trays were fitted on top of engine for ION battery, solenoid and horn and under seat for resister, fuse box and relays. Frame, forks, clocks and ram air were painted in Ford magnetic grey and bodywork painted in Ford race red & glacier white. 220 | 0 | A 1972/3 Kawasaki H2R Frame number none (new frame) Engine number H2E 90771 Motorcycle location: Douglas, Isle of Man From the vendor 1972/3 Kawasaki H2R 750 Ex Hurley Wilvert with history and in fantastic condition. Fully rebuilt in 2016 and not paraded since, can come with a serious spares package. Current condition In 2010 motor was rebuilt with overhauled crank, new rings, small ends and new clutch plates. It was run at Jurby Festival and Classic TT Parade laps in 2013/14/15. Approx mileage = 130 miles then engine was stripped and rebuilt in 2017 with new Wossner pistons, rings and small ends. Crank rebuilt with seals and bearings. New 5th gear fitted. We have only warmed it up on the stand since then. History and Specification Bike arrived in bits from Australia in 2010 and project was started, we stripped the motor which appeared to be in good order. The crank was completely overhauled and new small ends, piston rings, clutch plates, seals and gaskets were fitted, and the motor rebuilt. The hubs were cleaned up and wheels rebuilt with new spokes, alloy rims and new tyres. The original exhausts were in bad shape but with some work were persuaded to fit the new chassis. A more modern set of Neville Lush pipes in kit form were purchased and Dave Molyneux welded and fitted them to machine. Tank, seat and fairing was supplied by Nigel Everett (Ex Kawasaki race mechanic) these were then painted in 7 stages by Chris at Cromptons I.O.M. Rear sets, fairing brackets, bobbins, wheel spacers, and loads of other fixtures and fittings were manufactured on site in the TCR workshop. The history starts in 1972/3 in the USA, this was one of the first H2Rs that had the ?illegal? factory modified cylinder stud patterns which were outlawed late 1973. According to American Kawasaki factory rider Hurley Wilvert it was then brought down to OZ where it was sold to legendry Kawasaki crew chief Neville Doyle. Hurley thinks this was the bike/engine he borrowed back in 1975 to race at the Indonesia GP, Jakarta. We have no history from then until Des bought it in 2009. In 2012 at Mallory Park 1000 bikes meeting Hurley Wilvert and the H2R were reunited and ran some good laps around circuit. In 2013 Classic TT parade lap the H2R was ridden by Ex World Champion Kork Ballington. In 2014 at World Kawasaki day at Mallory Park Shakey Byrne, Chris Walker, James Ellison and Stuart Easton took turns to parade it. Hurley and Nigel Beattie rode it between 2014-16 in Classic TT parade laps For a competitive motorcycle collection from the Isle of Man to the UK try Geoff Evans (geoffevansiom@gmail.com) Below are estimates (to be confirmed by Geoff): Miles from his depot in Haydock From his IOM depot Collected IOM Haydock Depot £100 £130 Up to 100 miles £100 £220 101 ? 150 miles £220 £250 151 - 280 miles £240 £270 281 - 350 miles £270 £300 351 - 400 miles £290 £320 All prices are subject to VAT and Transmann Ltd conditions of carriage. 230 | 0 | A 1966 Kawasaki A1R 250 Frame number not legible Engine number AJE60831 Motorcycle location: Douglas, Isle of Man From the vendor: Completely rebuilt in 2013 and paraded between 2013 - 16 where it was used in the Classic TT and Jurby parade laps, again in fantastic condition. Completed approx 120 miles since full rebuild. Loads of spares also available. Current condition This was built up in 2012 with refurbished crank, new liners, pistons, rings and small ends. It has run at Jurby Festival and Classic TT in 2013/14/16 and has covered approx. 120 miles. History and Specification This machine was brought back from NZ in 2009 and in October 2012 full restoration started. The machine appeared to be all there but on closer inspection the engine had no internals. We hunted down a rebuilt crank from Dave Crussell in the USA and a gearbox from Hurley Wilvert also from the USA. Fahron Engineering made up new cylinder liners as originals were damaged and reworked the cylinder heads. Just after Christmas 2012 we got 3 nice packages of A1R spares from previous owner Kiwi John Boote. Various other parts from UK and USA were found to complete engine rebuild. Mick Jones from Motumbi in OZ supplied new fairing, seat and screen. We had new stainless-steel spokes and period alloy rims laced up on the Island by Chris Proctor. The frame and bodywork were sprayed by our good friend Chris Molyneux at Crompton?s. The rest of the cycle parts were cleaned and brought back to life or fabricated / made ?in house? at our workshop in Douglas. We have no history details on this machine until Hurley Wilvert rode it in the 2013,15 and 16 ClassicTT parade laps. 244 | 0 | The 1980 Windle TZ 500/700 World Championship and TT winning Sidecar Outfit In 1979 Sidecar Chassis Constructor Terry Windle was commissioned to build a Chassis for Scottish Sidecar Champion Jock Taylor for the 1980 World Championships / British Championships and the 1980 TT this was the second Chassis Terry had built for Jock, the first Chassis Built was called the Tin Windle, due to its Box Tin Construction, this Chassis flexed and cracked a lot especially on road Circuits like the Isle of Man TT course This new construction was a Reynolds 531 tubed construction, which was tig welded holding it together, it was far more rigid and stable than the earlier version Tin Windle, with it being tubular, it handled better, it was built to house the Yamaha TZ500cc or TZ700cc 2 stroke Engines, the TZ500cc for Grand Prixs and the TZ700cc for the Isle of Man and British Championships, rear interchangeable egine mounting plates made the engine changeover so simple and quick On construction of the Tubular Chassis, This is as told to me by Terry at East Fortune, when Terry and his Wife came up to see Jocks bike run for the first time in 30 years, he passed on a lot of Information to me about Jocks bike that weekend. After Terry Windle died, the owner was asked by his Son if he knew where if an ID number on Jocks bike was, he replied yes his father gave him it at East Fortune and told him where to find it on the bike, he told his son he would not divulge it to him, he respected his fathers wishes During Construction, Jock asked Terry Windle to fit the handlebars as near and as low to the front wheel spindle as possible, as Jock had a theory that the nearer the wheel spindle the more accurate the Sidecar would be to steer through corners, plus your body weight would rest on the fibreglass covering the top tube, thus taking the weight of your arms, this was a Theory Jock truly believed in 1980 Pre Season Testing went good both Jock and Benga settled into the new Windle tubular outfit with ease, Jock commented on the handling of the new tubular Windle, saying its on rails In 1980 Jock n Benga won the British Sidecar Championship, in 1979 at the TT he had the only DNF in his career failing to finish in the 1st TT Race, they won the 2nd Race lapping at 106.08 mph putting up a new Lap Record, had 6 World Championship 1st place Podiums and was on all 7 World Championship Podiums that year Later that year at the British Grand Prix Silverstone he rode the last 3 Laps with a rear wheel puncture, finishing 2nd to Jones n Ayres, that 2nd place secured Jock and Benga the 1980 World Championship Afterwards Jock said it was his Windle Chassis that won the Championship for them 1980 saw Jock voted MCN Man of The Year In 1981 on his Trusted Windle with the Yamaha TZ700cc engine, Jock / Benga won both Isle of Man TTs putting up a New Lap Record of 108.12mph and again win the British Championship, but failed to win the World Championship finishing in 3rd Place, Jock said the new European Chassis LCR and Seymaz were way ahead with their technology and handling characteristics, and were hard to compete with At the end of the 1981 Season, The Team sat down with Terry Windle and Stu Collins ex-GP passenger and designed a new hub centered steering aircraft aluminium box sectioned long chassis nicknamed The Worm, due to its length it tended to weave a bit on the long straights, Jock ode both the 500cc Prototype Worm in the Grand Prixs and his trusted World Championship and TT Winning Windle Tubular TZ700cc at the British Championships and the TT, he won both the TT Races that year During the 2nd TT Race and leading on the road, Jock came into Quarry Bends, he looked down at his Temp gauge for a few seconds, left the road ran up an embankment back onto the Road, and set the outwright Lap Record to 108.29 mph this Lap Record Stood for 7 Years, Jock said he thinks his lap if not for the excursion would have been 110.00 mph, he said his Windle saved the day He was having terrible problems with the Long Chassis and stood on only 3 third place Podiums that Year 1982 On the 15th August 1982 at the Finnish Grand Prix at Imatra Jock's Worm, Long Chassis aquaplaned in terrible wet conditions resulting in Jock's bike hitting a telegraph Pole with Jock losing his Life. Jocks 1980 World Championship and TT Lap Record Winning Windle Yam TZ700cc Sidecar Outfit is now fully restored to what it was years ago, When Jock died, his main sponsor Tom Wheatcroft who was the owner of Donnington Racing Circuit, asked Dennis Trollope if Jocks Sidecar could it in the foyer of the Donnington Park Racing Museum along with sixteen World Champion Winning F1 cars Restored lovingly by our passionate vendor, he wishes a new custodian to to look after this important sidecar as he is advancing in years Motorcycle location: Scotland All lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. 274 | 14500 | A 1980 Ducati 900 SS With some history From the owner: The Ducati has not been run since April 1990 and has been kept garaged since then. It comes with:- Owners manual Haynes workshop manual 2 additional unused and undrilled side panels (in black) 2 unused Armour Products of Wimbourne stainless steel exhausts (no BS kitemarks unfortunately so not road legal) Original double seat Registration document Some repair and service paperwork and old road tax disks The bike was "put to bed" in 1990 with the carbs and downpipes sealed, the crankcase filled with oil and plenty of oil applied through the spark plug holes before I replaced them. Prior to 1990 a full engine rebuild, tank and frame repaint was performed by Newton Engineering - the reconditioned crank subsequently failed and a new crank was installed and has about 4,000 miles on it. I believe that a new gear cluster was installed during the original engine rebuild. The front brake lever/piston has seized whilst garaged. Rear brake works fine as at the time of writing this email. The reason that I mothballed the Ducati was due to me purchasing a series of Suzukis which had the same riding position and much more power.
