1961 Norton Manx 250 Ken Taylor Special

Estimate  £22000-£24000

Categories: ,

Constructed in 1958 by engineer and racer Ken Taylor
He was assisted by famous race engineer Joe Potts who also produced a similar machine for the great Bob McIntyre
The frame is more than likely a modified Joe Potts item
The original shortened Norton forks were replaced in period by a set of Ken Sprayson Earles type using Renolds tube
The original combined fuel/oil tank was also replaced by a conventional alloy type due to fuel leaks
The engine is a short stroke over square 71mm X 63mm twin OHC with twin plug head and outside flywheel as per the works machines
A full description is shown in an article by John Griffiths featured in a 1961 copy of the ‘Motor Cycling ‘ magazine which is included
The engine runs well
An extremely well engineered functional machine produced in the glorious period
A unique collectors item
