Sir Costalot Comes to Charterhouse

The Charterhouse specialist auction of classic and vintage motorcycles has a Vincent Rapide affectionately known as Sir Costalot.

“We were contacted by a firm of solicitors to value the Vincent for inheritance tax or probate purposes.” Commented George Beale. “After a short period of time we were instructed to remove the motorbike for safe keeping and to enter it into our October classic motorcycle auction.

The Vincent Rapide Series C, from a deceased estate in Leicester, was cherished by the owner. It is understood the owner, who lovingly named it ‘Sir Costalot’ no doubt due to the money he lavished upon it, rode the bike on a regular basis clocking up some 70,000 miles in his 20 year ownership.

Assembled in 1963 Sir Costalot comes to auction with a Vincent Owners Certificate stating the frame came from a 1953 Vincent Comet and the engine from a 1951 Rapide.

With just three owners since 1963 this Vincent is estimated at £25,000-30,000 when it is being sold by Charterhouse at their specialist auction of classic and vintage motorcycles at The Haynes International Motor Museum on Thursday 14^th October.
