1970/71 Arter Matchless G50

One of only 2 or 3 made by famous race tuner Tom Arter
Featuring his special frame fitted with a Matchless G50 engine
It was the first British racing motorcycle to be fitted with magnesium cast wheels and disc brakes
The prototype was ridden successfully by Peter Williams
He finished second to Giacomo Agostini in the 1970 Senior TT and repeated this result in 1971
This example was purchased by the deceased owner in 1991 as a complete chassis with a 6 speed Schafleitner gearbox
He then fitted a period Matchless G50 engine with Lucas 2MTT magneto and Amal TT carburettor
Now fitted with Newby belt drive clutch
The owner raced the bike at Daytona in 1993
He crashed at Roebling Road circuit in 1994 Dave Pither raced the bike one week later at Daytona and finished second
The bike has been started recently and everything seems to be ok
Some re-commissioning will be necessary before use
