Where do you store your classic motorcycles?
George Beale, who heads up the Charterhouse classic motorcycle department, visited a client in the West Country recently with a collection of bikes, most of which were stored in the house.
“Generally, the motorcycles I look at and value are stored in a garage, shed, barn or storage unit and may be occasionally one in the house, so I was quite surprised to see a couple of living rooms not with a comfy settee and a TV in the corner but full of classic bikes!” Commented George Beale.
Nearly 50 motorcycles were collected by the owner over the past couple of decades. They gradually started to fill rooms in the home in addition to the garaging but the collector, who has now given up riding and decided to let new enthusiasts enjoy the bikes.
Motorcycles in the collection, estimated to sell for over £200,000, include Triumph, Norton, Royal Enfield, Honda, Matchless, Kawasaki, BMW, BSA and AJS dating from the 1930’s to the 1980’s and are entered into the Charterhouse auction of classic & vintage motorcycles on Thursday 18th June at the Haynes Motor Museum.
George Beale and the team at Charterhouse, The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne are available for classic motorcycle, car and automobilia valuations on 01935 812277 or via bikes@charterhouse-auction.com
